  • Valse Triste was commissioned by Jerome Kessler and Andrea Chomsky, 'cellists, Los Angeles, California, and premiered on February 10, 1980 at Barnsdall Park in Los Angeles by Jerome Kessler and Andrea Chomsky. A live performance of the work was broadcast on November 7, 1982 over KFAC-FM, Los Angeles.

    Valse Triste was performed by cellists Solen Dikener and Ozge Ileri during J.A.C. Redford’s 2004 residency at Marshall University.
